New Primary Care Services at Claremont Hospital The Claremont Hospital has introduced 3 new Primary Care Services with immediate effect,offering a wide range of daytime,evening and Saturday Morning appointments;
HPV or Cervical Cancer Vaccine This is now availible for Young Women and Girls from 13 years to 25 years. The vaccine which provides protection against the Human Papilloma Virus which is implicated as the main causative factor in cervical cancer. Cervical Cancer is a type of cancer which effects the neck of the womb. The vaccine is administered in 3 doses over a 6 month period and is most effective before the onset of sexual activity. The vaccine is currently available free via the NHS in school for 12-13 year old girls. For a confidential discussion or to book an appointment please call 0114 263 2114 A referral from your GP is not required Cervical Smear Tests The hospital now provides Cervical Liquid Smear Testing carried out by a qualified Female Practice Nurse for Young Women from 16 years with no upper age limit. This test looks for abnormal cells in the Cervix or neck of the womb,which may be a precursor of cervical cancer. The Test is currently available free via the NHS for those women between the ages of 25 and 50 years. For confidential advice or to book an appointment for a test please call 0114 263 2114.
