Self pay packages

Patients without medical insurance, who wish to fund their own treatment, are welcome at Claremont Hospital. A step by step guide to obtaining and paying for treatment is given below:

Obtaining a GP referral to a consultant

Step one

Make an appointment with your GP and ask him/her to write a letter of referral to a consultant with admitting rights to Claremont Hospital (your GP should have a Claremont Hospital directory of consultants, or alternatively your GP can write a 'Dear Doctor' letter which is not addressed to a specific consultant).

Your GP can send the letter directly to Claremont Hospital's outpatient department, or you can arrange to collect the letter and take it with you to your appointment.

Step two

Call Claremont Hospital's outpatient department on 0114 263 2109 to make an appointment with a consultant at a time to suit you.

If your GP has not sent a referral letter directly to the consultant, please bring this with you to your appointment.

Your consultant will be able to answer any questions you have about the proposed surgery and will be able to arrange a suitable admission date.

Paying for an outpatient consultation

If you do not have medical insurance, you will receive a bill from your consultant after your outpatient consultation. (Some consultants ask Claremont Hospital to bill on their behalf). The exact fee depends on the individual consultant, but as a rough guide expect to pay £100 - £120 for an initial consultation.

If you are a member of a health scheme, such as Westfield , you may be able to claim for outpatient consultations. You should check your policy documents or contact the scheme to enquire.

Diagnostic imaging (x-ray)

Your GP can refer you to Claremont Hospital for an x-ray or scan. Your GP can post or fax a referral letter or you can bring it with you to your appointment. To make an appointment, please call 0114 2632110. Appointments are usually available within a week of your GP referring you.

Please note that if you are funding your own treatment you will be asked to settle your bill before leaving the hospital.

Arranging fixed price self-pay surgery

If you do not have medical insurance, you can fund the cost of your operation yourself. We offer special, 'fixed price' packages to self-pay patients, which means that you can be sure that the price quoted will be the price you pay, with no hidden extras. See our terms and conditions for full details.

Complete our enquiry form or call us on 0114 263 0330 for a quotation.

Physiotherapy

It is not necessary to obtain a GP referral to a physiotherapist. Claremont Hospital's physiotherapy department is staffed by experienced chartered physiotherapists.

If you are a member of a health scheme, such as Westfield, you may be able to claim for physiotherapy. You should check your policy documents or contact the scheme to enquire.

If you are funding your own treatment, a special rate of £35 per session will apply. (Initial assessments are charged at £50).
